Personal information

I grew up in Chicago but have not lived there since 1982 when I finished graduate school. My parents were both raised in NYC and probably had some influence on how I pronounce certain words. I inherited love of languages from my mom who was an opera singer, translator and interpreter. My grandparents were from four different countries and spoke four different languages; German, Swedish, Yiddish and Russian. Why is my last name Smith? An immigration officer recommended it to my grandfather from Russia when he arrived at Ellis Island.

Business information

Environmental engineer/ Umweltingenieur,
Geophysical science
